The Secret to Making Money
with Affiliate Programs


Many people mistakenly think that making money with affiliate programs is easy. Just create an account on Clickbank, find one or more affiliate programs to market, and post your affiliate links all over the internet via either paid or free online advertising media, right?

If that’s how you plan to succeed, you’ll soon learn that there’s a lot of competition out there in affiliateland, and that sales obtained that way are very few and far between, if you get any sales at all.

Let’s look at this realistically. If affiliate marketing were that easy, wouldn’t virtually everyone be doing it? Of course they would.

Okay, so now that you know that it’s not that easy, what is the secret to making money with affiliate programs?

Well, it’s actually a two part secret, and you have to do both in order to succeed in affiliate marketing, or any other business for that matter.

Part one is to find an area of interest, or niche, that you can be passionate about. And if you’re thinking that you’re passionate about making lots of money, you’re on the wrong track.

Wanting to make a lot of money is not a marketable niche, it’s a goal. A worthy goal, to be sure, but a goal nonetheless.

If you haven’t identified a niche that you can be passionate about, I suggest applying the techniques outlined in my article "Discover The Great Business Ideas That Already Exist Within You".

Then get to work on part two which is...

Attracting people to you. Notice I said; “attract people to you”, not to your affiliate site.

Sounds simple enough, you might be thinking, but how do you do that?

The answer to that is also simple. Create a relationship of trust between you and your prospective customers. You do that by giving them something of real value with no expectation of getting something from them in return.

What? Why should you just give something of value away?

Let’s put this into perspective. If someone clicks on your affiliate link from a classified or Adwords type ad and if they end up buying whatever it is you’re selling, it’s a one-time thing. You’ll most likely never see that customer again.

But if you have a relationship with your prospective customers, they’re likely to buy from you over and over again.

You create and maintain that relationship by providing ongoing value without expecting anything in return. Of course, in many cases, you actually will receive something of value from them, but it’s not directly related to what you gave them. But it is directly related to the trust they have in you because of the value you gave them.

To position yourself to create and maintain a relationship of trust with your prospective customers, you have to be willing to put forth some real effort (aka. work). You also have to be willing to learn some new strategies and skills and apply them to your affiliate marketing business.

When I learned this concept, it was like a bright light of understanding went off in my head. It’s actually what led me to create this website.

When you understand and apply this simple, yet powerful secret, you’ll be far ahead of your fellow affiliate marketers in making money with affiliate programs.
